Most often it's expired session, but it's also possible to be due to low Karma points (which is not the case for your - you have 31).

It is not possible to change username, but you may change your email address (check out your splunk.com profile page).
Yes, you can create a new account, but you will need a different email address for that.

There is no config setting for that and this is default behavior. However the "old/defunct" link like https://splunkbase.splunk.com/apps/id/sos is not "defunct". It does work and we are not going to drop it anytime soon. Please let me know if somehow it does not work for your app, and I'll check it out.
