Thanks Allan, Yes, the SE graph seems to be the correct value but… How to solve that huge difference between BTs and SEs metrics? Which changes should we done on detection rules in order to have the right metrics on the BTs too? We have a dashoard for support team and we see that some tiers displays the right metrics on BT load but anothers don´t (and all of them have the same configuration) so metrics cannot be used as expected... Hi, Yes we have configured it due to: - BTs has to include the 2 segments and the soap action in order to capture the specific operation executed on the application - SEs configuration was added because some actions are not captured as BT, it only appears as SE. Which should be the best configuration in order to obtain a real total load in the load graph? Thanks a lot!

Thanks Allan, Which metrics are used to calculate the load graph? I mean, I do not understand why a BT with 21 calls/min have service endpoints associated with 330 calls/min in each node and the tier only reflects in the load the 21calls/min... However other tiers in the same controller under the same rules detection are displaying values closer tan the expected ones. Just trying to understand how dbAPM calculates the load and how to solve the issue... Thanks

Hi, We do not have any specific configuration, just detecting the first 2 segments and including the SOAP action But please, what we need is to confirm and verify which values are used to calculate the LOAD graph that is displayed in the Tier Flow Map. Thanks

Thanks Alan, In this case the number of calls for an specific BT (21 calls/min) is much lower than the number of executions (330 calls/min) of the SE associated to that BT. So the load graph at tier level is not reflecting the real traffic of those nodes. How to solve it please? Thanks

Hi, We have several tiers with several Business Transactions and several Service Endpoints (in fact almost the traffic used to be detected under Service Endpoints) but the load values are not the expected ones. The tier flow map shows the following load: That seems to be the Business Transactions values: But the service endpoints of that tier are executing a lot of calls (a higher value of calls): The Service endpoint load graph displays the expected values: From our point of view the tier load should take into account all the calls under the BTs, I mean, also add all the service endpoints calls, but seems not be the case... We need to confirm how dbAPM calculates the calls values displayed in the Load graph under the Tier Flow Map view. Which entities are taking into account to obtain that values? Please kindly confirm it. Thanks a lot in advance!

Thanks, Then we should obtain the same result if we use one of this cases indistinctly (taking into account that the service that is composed by 3 Business Transactions) for creating a rule: A) metric expression {value(average response time BT1)}+{value(average response time BT2)}+{value(average response time BT3)} B) group metrics (including teh 3 BTs on a group) value(average response time group) Am I right please? Thanks, The information was very useful but it is not exactly what we need. We have 2 transactions that compose the Login action. What we need to calculate is the uptime time of this servic. Downtime is considered if the following condition occurs more than 5 times: - the sum of the response time of those 3 transactions is higher than 30 seg Could you please kindly provide us support on this? Hi, Sorry but I do not undersatnd why V2 (slow calls metric - Value) is added to V1 (Average Response Time (ms) - Count). You would be adding the number of slow calls to the number of times the agent collected the metric. But those slow calls should be already included in the V1 count... am I right? Thanks

Thanks Eric, Sorry let me explain better. We have 3 business transactions that need to be executed in order to complete a login. The requiremente is: - if there are 5 attempts of failed login, then there is an application downtime - an attempt is considered as failed if the business transaction spends more than 30seconds I hope this clarify the issue... How to calculate the uptime/downtime based on the transactions response? If the interface is consider as down when 5 consecutive requests not replied within a total of 30 seconds...how to create a rule with this condition? The time is clear but the number of attempts? How to indicate that value on a condition rule please? Thanks

Could it be possible to display / use the total number of calls? From Bussiness Transactions metrics we can list the value of the calls/min and also the number of calls. However when we need to create a rule&alert that metric (total of calls) is not available. How to proceed then to use the number of calls instead of the calls/min? Thanks

Could it be possible to configure different frequency to collect business transaction snapshots? By default, a snapshot is collected every 10 minutes however we can see on the controller different results... Sometimes the tool is registering a lot of snapshots related to non critical transactions but main transactions hardly have sanpshots registered. How to modify it? Could it be possible to define the snapshot collection frequency for each main BT? Thanks

Hi, We have several java agents running on Tibco servers so a lot of Tibco Message Servers are detected. That traffic is displayed under Business Transactions list, as POJO elements. And some of them are also detected as Service Endpoints,. Web Service or Remote services calls. We can see that all the operations/transactions are properly detected, however a lot of them do not have assigned metrics. Do you know why?How to solve it? If dbAPM tool has detected them, it means there are traffic... am I right? Thanks a lot in advance!

Hi, On the other hand, we have detected that the issue could be related with backend naming. I mean, if a remote service is detected as host1:port1 and then backend naming configuration is modified to add a segment (for example host1:port1/segment1), the calls seems not being properly assigned and then both names are displayed, but with 0 calls. The same result is detected if we have the following: host1:port1/segment1 host1:port1/segment2 host1:port1/segment3 The HTTP remote services are listed, but with 0 calls... Could this be possible? How to avoid this issue please? Thanks!

The AppDynamics version is 4.3.8.5 The remote services traffic is detected, but only the business transaction view and BTs flow map show those calls... It seems a visualization issue or something like this... It has no sense that remote services are listed but no traffic is assigned to them... Thanks

We have an issue with the remote services traffic detection.- If we check the transaction flow map, we can see all the remote service calls executed from the tiers, and associated to that BT. However, those HTTP exit calls appears listed in the remote service list, but with number of call 0. Also in the application flow map and in the tier flow map, those calls are missing... However if we check the nodes or the own tier, selecting the "Slowest DB & Remote Service Calls", then we can see a list including some of those HTTP calls... According to docs, the tier and node flow maps, also the Tier dashboard flow map, should be display those metrics, but only the BT flow map is displaying them. The tool is detecting the traffic, because remote services are listed and slowest calls have metrics, however the flow maps do not include those backends and remote service list calls column always appears with 0 value... Do you know why is the issue here? Thanks a lot in advance!

Hi, Yes, init method is being captured in AppDynamics BTs. In fact the returned message is properly displayed as data collector (please see attached image with all the parameters), using the "ReturnValue.toString()" configured as Method Data Invocation: - Collection Data From: Return Value - Operation on Invoked Object: Use toString() But the issue heer is which getter chain expression should be used to capture the size of the message, calculated with public int getMessageSizeBytes(){ return message.getBytes().length; }. Sorry, but I do not have access all the code, just that related to those method (please find it attached) Thanks
