What is the impact on performance when DBConnect indexes data from tables in DB2 on the core application associated with database?

Does it lock the tables while indexing or hinder the core application performance associated with DB2 ?

Assuming DB Connect is running on a different server, the effect on the database server is no different than that of any other DB2 client making the same query.
