I have now installed the agent but i do not get any data from it. How can i check if the agent connects to the controler.

Can you go through below KB article and see if that information helps in debugging http://community.appdynamics.com/t5/Knowledge-Base/App-Agent-Not-Reporting/ta-p/13974 , if not, please send the zipped version of <AppServerAgent_dir>/logs and <AppServerAgent_dir>/conf folder for our review.
We suspect that you might not have provided controller host, app/tier/node details in <AppServerAgent_dir>/conf/controller-info.xml file Or there is connectivity issues between agent instance and controller host and port.

Sorry running on linux.
Red Hat Enterprise linux Server release 5.10 (Tikanga)
I did not change anmything from in the conf directorie except the controller-info.xml.
The rest is as Appdynamics created it.
Logging from the controller added but i do not see any logging from the agent.

Can you provide zipped version of logs folder from <appserveragent_dir>/logs path from same instance where you have configured -javaagent entry on corresponding server jvm startup scripts?
We understood controller is accessible in browser at URL http://lsrv1847.linux.rabobank.nl:9777/controller , we would like to check whether agent have network connectivity issues from agent logs trying to register at controller UI.
