Hi @gcusello I tested the theory , tried creating the roles before installing the app using victoria experience on splunk cloud instance. But after the app was installed the roles again disappeared from cloud instance. Have no idea on what could be the reason for this.

@gcusello Thank you for responding. But what if my private has its own roles like ITSI which are available once app is installed. It's a customized app we are building for cloud. Do you have any suggestions. Roles are not populating for the app unlike in enterpise.

Hi Splunkers,
I installed a private app with its own set of roles on splunk cloud instance using victoria experience but i couldnt find those roles in settings--> roles . My authorize.conf is fine, if tried locally. Not sure what could be the possible reason.
Is there any limitations on using app specific roles on cloud instance. Please suggest

Hi Splunkers,
Could you please help me to understand if we could pull data from s3 intelligent tiering buckets using Splunk AWS add-on or is their any limitation from Splunk side to do this? If not is their any Splunk documentation that suggests that?
We tried fetching data from s3 with intelligent tiering using regular option on add-on "Generic s3" and we got below error.
message="Skipped this key because storage class does not match(only supports STANDARD, STANDARD_IA and REDUCED_REDUNDANCY)."

We have dashboard with 50k events coming everyday. If a user tried to export results for last 30 days and they are not getting full results is there a way they could be notified. How can we identify if the data exported matches that in dashboard.

just an update i am using a shell script on my linux server where SH is hosted, which checks the splunk service every 5 minutes and starts it if not running.Also sends me email when not running.

Hi,
My Splunkd service in production instance is automatically getting stopped. It has happened couple of times before as well. We don't get to know untill we or clients try logging in. Is there a way we can be notified if the services are getting stopped.

Hi Splunkers,
We have to migrate our 3 Splunk instances to a whole different new instance. Since Splunk documentation says copy entire contents of $SPLUNK_HOME$ to the new instance but since we have to move 3 different instances to one we can't to do it for all.
Could you please guide me the ideal way for migration to take place. We need to have all apps and data from all the 3 instances to a newer one. Also how should the hardware requirements should be decided.

As per user requirement we have added a column of percentage match in status overview page which displays the % match of website homepage compared to its actual images stored (code is running in background to compare). I want to change the color of this column similar to column response_time or average .If %match is greater than the %match thershold value for that website , it should be red else it should be green.
Note : %match Threshold are varying for websites and is getting stored in the same lookup file which is having %match values.
Please suggest a way to acheive this.

Thanks for your response , may be my question isn't clear. actually script takes 30 min to run and i have scheduled for every hour but splunk has limitation of running alert script for 5 mins. are you aware what changes i need to do in alerts_actions.conf file in that case.

I am running a script from a alert which takes around 30 mins to complete . But instead my script is getting fired within5 mins or so and there are multiple instances of same script running. Manually the script works just fine. Is there a way i can increase the time before my scripts get killed or restarted from Splunk. i am using V 7.1.2. PLease help

i have indexed data from a directory in monitor mode ,and while checking the status of files being indexed i found an error " ignored file (crc conflict, needs crcSalt)" in the filestatus.
