Hi There, Switching to the splunk account using the command you recommended me worked, however I had to add it to sudoers. Would I be safe to remove the splunk account from sudoers or is it better to leave it there? Jamie

I'm using the root user to run the command and the splunk local account for the credentials. Ideally I don't want to switch accounts as it will require me to fiddle with our MFA software to allow the local user to sign in.

Hi There,
I am currently trying to install a Splunk Universal Forwarder on a Linux server (Ubuntu 18.04).
I have installed the forwarder but am receiving the following error when trying to install the credentials pacakge:
Error during app install: failed to extract app from /tmp/splunkcloud.spl to /opt/splunkforwarder/splunkforwarder/var/run/splunk/bundle_tmp/08fff82e60ae81e9: No such file or directory
I transferred the file to the server using WinSCP and I have confirmed that the splunkcloud.spl file exists in the /tmp folder. I have also made sure that the permissions are correct on the directory.
Any help would be appreciated,

Hi There, The majority of the panels on the dashboard are tables, so I'm going to accept that search as the solution. I do hope that they eventually add the option to display an image or some sort of message for all types of panel when there is no data to be displayed. Jamie

The issue with that, is that it still shows all of the other fields in the search, I'll attach an image so that you can see what I mean, but it just doesn't look very neat.

Hi Giuseppe, Yeah it is quite surprising that the feature doesn't already exist. Only issue with sharing the search, is that there is 10+ searches on the current dashboard. So I think the best course of action for me is probably to wait for the Splunk team to create the feature. Thank you anyway though, Jamie

Hi There, I have checked multiple other discussions on this forum with people after a similar solution, however, they seemed quite specific, whereas I'm looking for a general method to accomplish this. Essentially I just want a simple way to show a message of some kind on every dashboard panel that currently doesn't have results to show, instead of the typical "No search results returned".
