it's unlikely that support will return in the future unless the data we have for usage on that platform changes significantly. i hope you're able to make do with the UF and pick another, supported platform for your main Splunk Enterprise deployment.

only the Splunk Universal Forwarder is available on FreeBSD: http://www.splunk.com/en_us/download/universal-forwarder.html Splunk Enterprise has not been available on any version of FreeBSD since 6.3. (compare http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/6.3.0/Installation/Systemrequirements#Unix_operating_systems to http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/6.2.6/Installation/Systemrequirements#Unix_operating_systems ) Enterprise support for FreeBSD was discontinued due to low customer demand compared to the cost of development and testing given the complex nature of the Enterprise platform. however, you can continue to get data from FreeBSD systems using the Universal Forwarder, which we will continue to support on the broader range of *nix platforms.

this is indeed a known bug, SPL-108288 i am told the recommendation is to disable the splunk_6_3_overview app

this is a very general question that can be answered by reviewing the documentation. please provide more details about what you're trying to achieve--what do you want to know about your routers, switches, etc? what does your environment look like? in the meantime, i recommend you go through the tutorial, here: http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/latest/SearchTutorial/WelcometotheSearchTutorial

@vgolof: i looked up your case--you do not appear to have an active Support entitlement, which is why your case was not responded to. you must have a paid Support plan to receive a response from our Support team. i'll see if anyone has a minute to look at this.

please forward any and all such emails to rachel@splunk. i am currently investigating what the site actually supports, and am intending to sort out what has occurred. it's one thing to boost someone a little with a few upvotes, and entirely another to embark on an upvote spree over multiple days. i contacted two accounts i was made aware of to ask that they refrain from doing this, and have received no response. i ask your patience as i try to address this issue.
