I want do the Splunk Certified Core User certification. Currently, I've registered for a learning path in Splunk itself. I selected only free course in each topic. I didn't select any topic in 'Leveraging Lookups and Subsearches', 'Search Optimization' as it had only paid option. Are all these fine for completing the certification?

I'm thinking of doing the same for Power User and Cloud Admin. Is this approach fine?

Hi @KKuser

This sounds like a great approach, remember that its worth getting as much hands-on experience with Splunk as you can to solidify the learning.

Also consider events like Splunk4Rookies and other virtual workshops (https://discover.splunk.com/EMEA_Virtual_Workshops.html) which is a great opportunity to ask questions to other users too!

Here are the blueprints for the exams you are interested in, they detail the areas covered for each exam and how it is weighted across the questions so that you can work out where to focus your efforts!

@KKuser

The Power User certification requires understanding SPL commands, creating knowledge objects, workflow actions, data models, and using field aliases, calculated fields, and macros. The Cloud Admin certification focuses on managing and configuring data inputs, forwarder configuration, user accounts, basic monitoring, and problem isolation for Splunk Cloud. If the free courses cover these topics, you should be fine. However, if you find any gaps in your knowledge, you might want to consider investing in the paid courses for those specific topics.

Yes, that should work well. The free courses in the Splunk learning path provide a solid foundation for the Splunk Certified Core User certification. Just make sure to follow the certification blueprint as a guide.
