Wondering if Splunk latest version support Python 2.7 otherwise user community has compatability issues

Splunk currently ships with Python 2.6.4, as will Splunk 4.2.

Per the other thread that you linked to, you are best off importing and maintaining external python libraries via a separate instance of python.
