Splunk Search

New index does not show

I have created a second index called "nagios" exclusivly to collect data from my nagios install. Nagios has populated it with 20K+ entries already.

The new index does not seem to be included on the summary page or search but I can see the data if i search for index="nagios".

How can I get this data to show alongside my default index and be included for the summary lists of sources, sourcetypes, hosts and fields when using search?

Thanks,

Rob

You have to add the index to default indexes of the roles of which you want to see it without specifying it explicitly. For example, select it for the admin role at Manager » Access controls » Roles » admin » Indexes searched by default

I have the created a summary index, and even set it to the correct "indexes searched by default" for the role the user is part of, but still when they try to edit > edit summary indexing > then select the summary index from the drop down box, it does not appear. I've had my coworkers look at this with me, check all the configs for user authentication and index visibility, yet the user still cannot access it. As an admin, I can see it, along with every other summary Index, so I am pulling my hair out with this!
