How do I confirm the host name & IP address of a  host I am logged in in Splunk GUI?

You can get the Splunk server name with this query.

| rest /services/server/sysinfo splunk_server=local | table splunk_server

I don't  a reliable way to get the IP address, however.  You can try adding a DNS lookup to the above, but that often doesn't work well in corporate networks.

| rest /services/server/sysinfo splunk_server=local 
| table splunk_server
| lookup dnslookup clienthost as splunk_server OUTPUT clienthost as ipAddress
