How to compare 2 xml files and produce the difference as output ?

I have IBM WebSphere related configuration XML files. Which will get changed whenever any configuration changes happened. I want to compare the my previous XML file content with current XML file based on timestamp. and output should be the difference between both.

Is this possible to achieve in Splunk ?

All of the functional bits that you need should be inside of this app; @alanden_splunk @landen99 can help you carve out what you need:

I'd use a source management utility like git to do that rather than use Splunk.
