Thread Dump Analysis

We have several health rules policies for our Java apps which trigger Thread Dump Actions, and we have been able to retreive the generated thread dumps from the SaaS Contoller. However, we are not able to analyze the generated thread dumps. We typically use the IBM Thread and Monitor Dump Analyzer for Java, since our applications run on IBM Websphere.

What tools can be used to analyze the AppDynamics generated Java Thread Dumps?

Jeremy,

What agent version are you running?  With 4.4.2 or later, the thread dumps should be consumable by any tool (e.g. the IBM analyser you mention, or Samurai)

If you are runnng an agent version higher than that, please provide a thread dump and the precise tool version you are trying to use to read it.

Warm regards,

Peter

OK. Sounds like we need to update the app agents then. We are still leveraging App Server Agent v4.3.7.1

We will update our agents, and let you know if we are still experiencing issues analyzing the generated dumps.

Thanks!
