SMTP configuration in backend

How to update SMTP credentials in the backend config. in which config file we should update. Do we need to encrypt the password before updating in the backend

File to configure is:

etc/system/local/alert_actions.conf

Not sure if password is encrypted.  Just try to set a password form gui and look at file and see if you can read it.

Splunk will encrypt it after restart.
