I'm working to develop solutions for Splunk for my corporate environment. I don't manage nor do I work on Splunk production servers. Yet, my role requires that I setup, use, and test Splunk. My issue is the licensing keeps getting in my way. I have no issue with literally installing and configuring a "fresh" instance everyday however, it almost seems that Splunk knows that it's been installed on host before.
I'm not trying to use Splunk without a license. We have a corporate license. However I cannot tap into that for development and testing. For testing clusters, upgrades, and other features, I cannot use the "free" version of Splunk. Any ideas on how to deal with this?

You could either use your corporation's enterprise license by connecting to their license master if you are not indexing a lot of data or you could get a developer license if you meet the requirements.

There are two non-production licenses available:
10GB Developer licenses are available to all users and can be requested here: https://dev.splunk.com/enterprise/dev_license - the approval process is manual, so please allow 2-3 business days for a response. If you run into issues or don't receive your license within that timeframe, please reach out to devinfo@splunk.com
50GB Personalized Dev/Test licenses are available to users associated with an account with a paid Splunk Enterprise or Splunk Cloud license and can be requested using this form: https://splunk.com/dev-test - the approval process is automated, so if you don't receive a response within a day, reach out to your Splunk sales representative.
