License Migrtion from one server to other server

Hi,

We are planning to migrate our existing Splunk server(Physical server ) to virtual server .
can i know whats steps should i follow to move my existing license to new virtual server

When we moved ours we simply applied the existing text file license to the new server and de-activated the old server.
