I would recommend opening a Splunk support ticket on that. Perhaps try installing an older version of Splunk like 6.5.2 (most stable previous release)

Are you installing as root?

Are you installing with rpm -i splunk-6.6.1-aeae3fe0c5af-linux-2.6-x86_64.rpm or another method?

What version of linux are you using (uname -a)?
