SplunkLightweightForwarder app require inputs.conf?

Or can i enable "applicationx" with its own inputs.conf.

only the lightweightforwarder and the "applicationx" apps are enabled on this installation.

inputs.conf is in "applicationx" and outputs.conf is in the lightweightforwarder app.

Doesn't seem to be forwarding so something is a wry.

TIA, Kirby

The Splunk Lightweight Forwarder app does not require an inputs.conf file. The other app you are using can be used to manage the inputs to the Splunk system.

There is the possibility that your forwarder is incorrectly configured, or your inputs are not configured correctly. There are multiple threads on Splunk answers regarding how to remedy inputs and forwarder issues.

I advise you first check forwarder functionality, then confirm your inputs are getting applied.

according to the splunkd.log it is connecting fine to the indexers but not doing anything else. my inputs.conf file in my app looks fine as well. I'll keep looking.
