Install Unable to launch Splunk's Pre Flight Checks

I'm trying to install splunk 64bit on Windows 7. Everything seems to work up until the Pre Flight Check. I recieve the following error:

Splunk Install er was unable to launch Splunk's Pre Flight Checks. Error Code 10

Thanks! After looking at the log I was able to fix the problem and install. It said that the file was already in use. I manually deleted the files and folders and cleaned the registry. Then restarted the machine and i was able to install.

windows 7 and 2k8r2 can be a pain.

If you're using the msi, run the msi from a cmd prompt that is run as administrator.
c:\pathtomsi\splunkxxxxx.msi

You can also check the splunkd.log - search for "win-service"

c:\program files\splunk\var\log\splunk\splunkd.log

Thanks for the answer, but the install rolls back and splunk.exe is not in the bin folder.

I have run the install as an administrator and I receive the same results

Try starting it from the commandline with cmd run as administrator, and see if you get any additional information.
"c:\program files\splunk\bin\splunk.exe" start
