Getting Data In

Can you collect data From DirecTV Receiver/Bridge with Splunk?

Hello Splunkers!

I'm getting into the nitty-gritty of Splunk and trying to apply my own data. I came up with the idea of trying to collect user and program data from the DirecTv receivers in my house. We have the newer Genie system that operates on a wireless basis. How would I go about doing this? It is connected both to our house Wifi router and it's own standalone wireless bridge. Given all these access points there must be a way to input it into Splunk, right?

I'm still a novice but trying to find data around me to collect and visualize- so I can practice my new found Splunk knowledge.

Thanks, everyone!

Hi GIPO29,

you can try the stream app https://splunkbase.splunk.com/app/1809/ to collect the network traffic with Splunk or you can try and actually configure the box somehow to send logs/syslog to Splunk ... I have no idea if the latter will work at all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

cheers, MuS
