Splunk Dashboard App Framework

Hi guys, looking at the Splunk Dashboards app here. Just wondering if this is simply an app that makes it easier to generate custom HTMLor SimpleXML dashboards or it is utilizing a new framework for Dashboards

@shocko It is the new Dashboard Framework which is going to be streamlined across all products. ITSI Beta Glass Tables also utilizes the new Dashboard Framework. The underlying configuration (source code) for these Dashboards is JSON and not XML. However, while saving the dashboard gets saved as XML with JSON wrapped inside. You are allowed to convert your existing Simple XML dashboards to the new JSON based dashboard framework but features like Custom Visualizations, advanced tokens etc, may not port correctly.

Thanks Rich. So is it safe to install into production even though in Beta i.e. although you might have issues with aspects of a Beta framework for dashboarding to shouldn't affect underlying stability of the Splunk platform?

It is a new framework for dashboards.  It may create SimpleXML under the covers, but there's no visibility into that.
