Hi,
I have been looking for a solution to authenticate once and use it for ever token.
Anyone can help?
Background:
Our REST API Splunk client login into server and executes query after each test run.
But, we are having trouble in exposing our passwords in CI environment.
There is no way today. The token is temporary by design and will expire.
For sending data to Splunk we've introduced permanent tokens as part of our new HTTP Event Collector.
if you would like to see us introduce long lived tokens, please submit an idea at splunkdev.uservoice.com
I'm under the impression that the auth/login session token expires based on the session timeout settings (see http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/6.3.1/Admin/Configureusertimeouts)
I would also like to know if there's a way to generate a permanent token

Cheers! You should probably make that an answer so the OP can close the thread
Good point! Done.
