Did you know that for Splunk Enterprise 9.4, Python 3.9 is the default interpreter? This shift is not just a housekeeping update, it’s a critical step in ensuring long-term support, enhanced security, and compatibility with your Splunk apps and add-ons. Running legacy scripts or modular inputs on older versions may introduce unexpected errors or break functionality entirely. Upgrading your Splunk environment to use Python 3.9 ensures smoother performance, future compatibility, and full support from Splunk and the broader developer ecosystem.

OpenSSL 3.0 is the standard for Splunks next release, bringing with it improved cryptographic capabilities, better compliance with modern security standards, and a more robust architecture for handling encryption. OpenSSL 3.0 enforces the use of TLS 1.2. TLS 1.0 and 1.1 are not supported. So please ensure your Splunk components are configured and tested for TLS 1.2! This will ensure you can maintain a secure, standards-based encryption across your Splunk environments.
