latest nix app on splunk 6

Hi,

Anyone been able to install the latest Nix app on Splunk 6? It installed, but it says the name of the app was "etc", and it's not viewable anywhere.

You have to install the app manually, not from inside Splunk Web. This is noted in the Release Notes, with a link to the detailed manual installation instructions.

How did you install it?

It seems they who ever made the archive slightly screwed up.

They've created it from a directory above the etc dir. As such if you extract it like any other app into the etc dir you will get /opt/splunk/etc/etc/apps/splunk_app_for_nix.

You need to extract it into the base splunk dir (/opt/splunk) so that the full directory structure is created correctly.

Alternatively just manually pull out the 3 directories and dump them into the apps dir.
