There’s a limited number of encoding supported by the Python that comes with Splunk. Your email server is using an unsupported encoding. I’ve seen this issue with cPanel.
hello,seunomosowon
Is there a solution now?
I can't solve this problem now. Can you solve it?
I had one specific email causing this problem, once I deleted it out of the mailbox, the process continued and retrieved the rest of the email.
I'll try add a work around, to maybe move any mails found with the problem to a folder. Some emails that might come with a different encoding may not be supported by the limited Python that comes out of the box with Splunk. You could also try using phantom to consume the emails. It may support the full character set.
Hello @seunomosowon unfortunately I also have the same problem with one mailbox now. Have you been able to implement a workaround? It would be so great to proceed further with other mails in the mailbox and ignore only which comes with a wrong charset
