ServiceNOW TA, settings to control API data calls?

I can see that SNOW TA has configurable "collection interval" and "Time field of the table" settings. Are there any other settings?

I am concerned about creating too many API calls to Service NOW or recollecting the same data.

Please correct me if I am wrong, so to use the "Time field of table" just leave default "sys_update_on" ???

So the next API call (to ServiceNOW) will collect only new data (per the set collection interval and set amount of record_count)???
