Once it is installed, and loaded in Splunk, I get this message:

Activity Map

The Activity Map shows the count of IPs by geo
If you see this message you most likley need to adjust your HTML file in this view or you are trying to view the HTML directly instead of in a Splunk view module.

What am I to do now?

You need to have a search which will populate one of the xml_out file define on your search.
