I have splunk enterprise and I want to get system performance,server performance, log, audit, and status Disk usage etc of IIS server which is deployed on AWS.
Now I have splunk addon and app both already configured which will give the performance information (like mentioned above ) of its individual ec2 instances so it will give the information of the window IIS SERVER also(if i am wrong please correct me).
So do I need to install forwarder ?

I have set index=new in inputs.conf file in forwarder but my new have no logs so I think its going to some where else when I check other indexes like main internal its shows some log .So how to configure the forwarder so it send to right indexer.
I installed splunk add-on on 29/1/2018 form that date Index=os is not receiving any thing and when I run setup.sh and try to enable inputs its send me message "enable failed". I think the both problem are related some how , can anyone help me in this

I want to install splunk app for unix and linux on search head in splunk enterprise which is installed in windows ,

I have doubt search head here is splunk enterprise right? Because I have only one forwarder.
I already installed it in my splunk enterprise( installed in windows )but it says "This server is not running a known Unix or Linux operating system. Install this add-on on Unix or Linux systems only. "

ok so in my case I have splunk enterprise installed in windows which in my knowledge is both the indexed and search head and Splunk app for unix is also installed on splunk enterprise , and universal forwarder is installed in Ubuntu with splunk addon installed . My forwarder is working as I can see data coming in through Forwarders: Instance in default dashboard.
I have not defined any indexer in splunk enterprise, now coming to my Linux machine which have universal forwarder to install Splunk addon for unix I moved my unpacked downloaded files to $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps and restarted.
Now for enabling script and data input I used below command
$SPLUNK_HOME/bin/splunk cmd $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/Splunk_TA_nix/bin/setup.sh
which directed me to the menu page and given me the enabling failed error as I mentioned above.
So this the whole thing I have done.I am not sure about the
1)Install the Splunk App for Unix and Linux on an indexer
2)Install the Splunk App for Unix and Linux on a search head
in http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/UnixAddOn/5.2.4/User/DeploytheSplunkAdd-onforUnixandLinuxinadistributedSplunkenvironment
as I have only one forwarder so I don't think I have to do any thing for 1 and 2.
Now please tell me what is wrong and how t solve the issue.

How to install add-on on search head?

In above doc its mentioned that splunk app for unix to be installed on search head that I have already done.

I installed the Splunk add-on for unix and Linux on my Linux machine which have forwarder installed in it and installed splunk app for unix and Linux in windows which is the receiver but I am not receiving any thing in my splunk app, the setting in APP is as follows:
UNIX INDEX
index=main
index=os
SYSLOG DATA
sourcetype=syslog
CPU DATA
sourcetype=Linux_CPUTime
sourcetype=cpu
DF DATA
sourcetype=df
When I run setup.sh it ask username and password I enter my username and password and then a menu open which have certain options I choose
Manage *nix inputs
and then it again open menu
so I choose enable all inputs
but then it gives me error
"ENABLING FAILED"
I cant figure out what is the problem can anyone help me out.

hey I solved that problem but after login
menu open and I select 2 option
manage nix inputs
and again new menu open then I opted for 2 option
enable all inputs
it give me message enable failed*.
What is the problem what should be done to solve this issue?

I was trying to install addon on UF but in Splunk> nix command-line setup > LOCAL LOGIN I faced problem in enabling inputs what is the problem?
1 - manage one input
2 - enable all inputs
3 - disable all inputs
4 - go back to main menu
0 - logout and exit program
Enter selection:
I opted for 2 and got error mentioned below:
enabling /Library/Logs
enable failed
enabling ~/Library/Logs
enable failed
enabling /var/log
enable failed
enabling /var/adm
enable failed
enabling /etc
enable failed

I am trying to install splunk add-on and when i am running the setup.sh command by using
export SPLUNK_HOME=/opt/splunk
cd $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/Splunk_TA_nix
. ./setup.sh
I get
Login failed
Login Failed
so i seen some document and answer and with reference to that i get to know that i have to use
$SPLUNK_HOME/bin/splunk cmd $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/Splunk_TA_nix/bin/setup.sh
but it also give me error Syntax error: "(" unexpected i stucked here for so long and cant figure out the way out of it
So tell me that am i doing things right and what else i have to do to configure it.

I read some document I get to know that I have to install the Splunk TA for Unix and Linux on forwarder (in my case on Linux) and splunk app forunix on windows(receiver) I don't know how to install TA for Unix and Linux on forwarder and configure it and how to configure splunk app which is installed on windows to see the cpu memory and disk usage.
Plz correct me if Its not the required step
