Hello John, It could be a permissions issue, but since the installer is trying to install a JRE that is a part of the product from the installation package, it should not be an issue with a copy of Java already on your system. I am not sure what the "usual solutions" you tried are, but here are the ones that I can think of: 1. Are you running the installer as Administrator? 2. Does the file D:\applications\appdynamics\Platform\installer\jre\bin\server\classes.jsa exist and if so, what permissions do you have on it? If the file does not exist, what folders in the path exist? 3. Are there any other errors in the install log, especially preceding this one? 4. Have you tried re-downloading the installer and reinstalling, in case the installer package was somehow corrupted? For reference, here is the document on EC installation: https://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO45/Install+the+Enterprise+Console Regards, Jonathan

Hello Silvan, Yes, simply put, once a beacon is sent across the network, the local copy is deleted immediately. To explain in a little more detail, individual events such as button clicks are enqueued in memory and sometimes persisted to the file system as individual files if the queue in memory is getting too large. A number of these files are then gzipped into a single file which makes up a beacon (or sometimes beacons are created from the in-memory queue directly). In case the beacon fails during transmission, the file is persisted so that it can be sent again, but once the beacon is successfully sent, the beacon file is deleted immediately. Hello Hugo, Thanks for posting to the AppDynamics Community. That error message is harmless and can be ignored. It simply states that no log4j 2 config can be found, which is expected because the Machine Agent is still using log4j 1. What to look for is whether your log contains the message "Started AppDynamics Machine Agent Successfully" and more importantly, whether you can see the agent in your Controller. If you are not able to see the Machine Agent in the Controller, then there may be other errors in the log to look into, and the document below as well as the Knowledge Base article that it links to may provide additional troubleshooting help: https://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PROD/Verify+the+Standalone+Machine+Agent+Installation Best regards, Jonathan

Hello Vivek, Thanks for posting to the AppDynamics Community. It seems like the machine agent is having difficulty accessing the controller. This can happen for many reasons, but please begin by verifying the settings in the controller-info.xml file in the <machine_agent_home>/conf directory, as described in the following document: https://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO45/Configure+the+Standalone+Machine+Agent Please note that the <account-access-key> should be set to the access key found in your license: If the settings are all correct, the next thing to verify would be connectivity from the server with the machine agent to the controller. You can test this by either opening the controller in a browser from the machine agent's server, or with the following command: telnet <controller_url> <port> (This is only for testing connectivity so if you connect successfully please exit telnet with Ctrl-C) Also, if there are any other messages in the log, particularly ones marked as ERROR, that could provide more clues. On the other hand, if for example you simply have the server name wrong, then the log will only show that same message repeated every minute. Please let me know if this helps. Best regards, Jonathan

Hello Pauric, Thanks for posting in the AppDynamics Community. If you added a new website in IIS, then the agent should automatically find it and add it in the controller as a new node the next time it starts up. Here are a few things to check: 1. Have you restarted IIS since you added the website? 2. Have you visited the website in a browser in order to get some calls to IIS and provide the agent with something to track? 3. Is there anything of note in the agent logs? 4. Are there any errors or warnings in Windows Event Viewer? Best regards, Jonathan

Hello Mohammed, Thanks for posting the question on the Community. The Machine Agent, which monitors performance statistics for the machine, is a separate component from the App Agents, which are designed to monitor specific applications. It does not come bundled with any of the App Agents. You can download the Machine Agent for Windows here: https://download.appdynamics.com/download/#version=&apm=machine&os=windows&platform_admin_os=windows&appdynamics_cluster_os=&events=&eum=&page=1 You can also find detailed instructions for installation here: https://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO45/Install+the+Standalone+Machine+Agent One more thing to note: if you install the .NET Agent and Machine Agent on the same Windows machine, there is an additional step you need to take in order for the two agents not to conflict with one another. Please see the documentation here about enabling .NET Compatibility Mode: https://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO45/Install+the+.NET+Agent+for+Windows#Installthe.NETAgentforWindows-install_prepPreparetoInstall Please let me know if you have any further questions. Best regards, Jonathan

Hello Manish, Thanks for posting to the AppDynamics Community. AppDynamics does not have a predefined metric to count the number of files contained in a directory, but fortunately there is a custom extension available on the AppDynamics Exchange that can do that: https://www.appdynamics.com/community/exchange/extension/filewatcher-monitoring-extension/ Or if that extension does not accomplish what you are seeking, it is also possible to write a shell or batch script and build a custom extension yourself. For more information on custom metrics and monitoring extensions, please refer to the following documents: https://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO45/Extensions+and+Custom+Metrics https://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO45/Build+a+Monitoring+Extension+Using+Scripts Please let me know if this helps or if I have misunderstood your question. Best regards, Jonathan
