Hi All, I couldn't find the answer for this anywhere, so I thought I'd ask. I have created a dashboard using splunk. We use it for Syslog. Now I have two charts made up of line graphs, they are currently displaying with 1st chart above the 2nd chart, and are both full length across the screen. I would like to change the dashboard so the charts show side by side one on the left side of the page and one on the right side of the page. I have tried editing the xml file to no avail. Is anyone able to tell me how I can setup the dashboard to have both charts side by side the current layout of the dashboard is as follows Dashboard Label Dashboard title Dashboard title line gaps false stacked false right Report 1 Macflaps last 4 hours linear area gaps default false right linear 10 true Report 2 Report Title 2 column 20 true

I just thought I would post in here in regards to a question I have that is related. I have heard thay you can get cisco devices to syslog and include their hostname in the syslog message. So far I have not found out if this is correct. Does anyone have any experience with that. I realise you can do a dnslookup, or do a lookup table, but thought if this was possible it might make more sense to apply that config change to our devices instead of splunk.

I am specifically after apps for switches such as - nexus 5000 series, nexus 7000 series, various cisco routers, cisco 3750 switches etc. The routers are almost across the full suite of products, ie 2921 routers. 2800s etc. 7204's

I know you can get the cisco enterprise secruity app, but that's not an option for us. Any assistance or feedback from people would be great.

Hi All We currently have splunk installed, and have a fleet of cisco devices feeding syslog to it. This includes: Datacentre Switches, Switches, routers, firewalls, waas optimisers etc. Now splunk has already shown it's value, I was just wondering what if any apps are out there that people can recommend? I've had a look at splunk apps. I was wondering what apps other people are using to better present the cisco syslog coming into splunk. thanks

Hi All, sorry for the lack of knowledge I have in regards to this area. But how suitable would splunk in regards to substituting for SCOM in a small NMS type deployment of 10-20 servers. It looks like the only monitoring application we would have for our server environment that fits the bill is Splunk. I am trying to educate myself on this area slowly, hence the question. From what I've seen splunk would seem to fit the bill, I essentially want to know what SCOM can do, if anything, that Splunk can't. thanks chris

Thanks for the info. We are currently running CISCO MARS and are looking at using splunk as a replacement. Thanks for the info. I myself dont have control over the log level configuration. Thanks for the points though. Does anyone have any idea on how to determine how much cisco mars is logging a day, without running a trace on it. Havent been able to see anything as of yet.

This of course is a bit of a stab in the dark. But does anyone have a "Ballpark figure" as to what syslog traffic 1000 odd physical CISCO devices might generate, this is mainly switches and routers, about 20 odd firewalls. Not internet facing. Overall theres about 600 logical devices.
