Remove splunk_app_db_connect folder from $Splunk Home\etc\apps
Download DB Connect 3.1.3 from splunk base
Install DB Connect (by choosing install from file)
Select DB Connect All and click setup
Under Settings -> General -> Task Server Port remove 9998 and add 1025
Click Save
The task server restarts
Again Change Task Server Port to 9998 and click save
The task server restarts
That's all folks!!!

I tried restarting Splunk and attempted "Upload." It gets stuck at "Generating Data Preview" and gets "Read Timeout" throws error. It's a free dataset a trace containing one month's worth of all HTTP requests to the NASA Kennedy Space Center WWW server in Florida. If someone wants to try please let me know. While inputting a Apache Archive file in ASCII format, 20.7 MB gzip compressed, 205.2 MB uncompressed am getting a "Read Timeout" error. This log/ASCII file has one line per request, with the following columns:
1. host making the request. A hostname when possible, otherwise the Internet address if the name could not be looked up.
2. timestamp in the format "DAY MON DD HH:MM:SS YYYY", where DAY is the day of the week, MON is the name of the month, DD is the day of the month, HH:MM:SS is the time of day using a 24-hour clock, and YYYY is the year. The timezone is -0400.
3. request given in quotes.
4. HTTP reply code.
5. bytes in the reply

In the Splunk documentation it says, "If you install a Dev/Test license over an Enterprise license, the Enterprise license will be deleted." The Dev license says "size 10 GB."
Does this mean that if someone installs Dev License over and above Enterprise Premium License, they can index only 10 GB/day. Could someone kindly explain?

There is no "Account Settings>Preferences" under User Icon (Splunk Bar in 6.4.2)
I have added "local" directory under $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/search/
Created file user-prefs.conf.spec.in (by copying user-prefs.conf under$SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/search/default)
Opened the $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/search/user-prefs.conf.spec.in/ and added the following:
search_syntax_highlighting = true
search_auto_format = false
search_line_numbers = false
Restarted the Splunk instance
Search syntax highlighting doesn't work
Does this work only in higher versions? Please note it's not a free license version. Kindly help!
