It's not those tutorial dates I'm looking for.

My link is to a deeper section of the tutorial where you upload the data to your Splunk instance.  If those steps are missed or fail then you'll be unable to search for the data and complete the rest of the tutorial.  Did that section complete successfully?

the tutorial data zip file contains all required indexes. 

did you download the tutorial zip file and uploaded to Splunk?
