The free resources I recommend most often are:

  1. Splunk Fundamentals 1
  2. Exploring Splunk (also available in several other languages; ask a sales engineer for a hard copy, even if you're not a current customer)
  3. Search Tutorial
  4. Splunk Quick Reference Guide
