How to call external Python interpreter using .path file?

I want to use the python on OS instead of Splunk in-built python as it failed to import numpy and scipy. In the search manual it says a python.path file should be used in the commands.conf stanza. What is the content of the python.path file? I put
c:\ProgramData\Anaconda2\python.exe
in it but it still returned error code 1.
Thanks for help.
