Error: [JobManager module] 'str' object has no attribute 'os_startIndex'

We were running Splunk 6.2.2. When looking for jobs that ran, under "Activity - Jobs", it shows the first 10 results on page 1, but when switching to page 2, or expanding the number of results per page, the following message is received, so we are not able to see our jobs:

[JobManager module] 'str' object has no attribute 'os_startIndex'

We upgraded to 6.2.5, build 272645, but the issue still remains.

Try these steps:

  1. From Splunk Web, go to Manager > Your Account
  2. In the Time zone setting, change the "default System Timezone" to a specific timezone
  3. Save the change. No restart is needed and the error should go away
