Will there be a problem with compatibility if the deployment server version is different from the splunk UF or HF?

will there be a problem with compatibility if the deployment server version is different from the splunk UF or HF ?????

example :- if the Deployment Server ver is 7 and the Splunk UF or HF ver is 8.

 

please provide splunk documentation.
