Hello, which Splunk 10 version is stable? I've seen there is 10.2 and before 10.0, what happened to 10.1?
Also I saw 10.0.4 was released recently, why?
Thanks.
Hi @splunkreal
10.1 was a Cloud-only release. There are typically 4 minor version upgrades per year, roughly 1 per quarter, however only 2 of these version upgrades are for CMP/OnPremise (roughly every 6 months) whilst all versions are available on SplunkCloud. Essentially features are available on Splunk Cloud first.
Anyway, its usual for all supported version of Splunk to receive 'patch' version (Major.Minor.Patch) updates more frequently than full releases in order to provide updates to release fixes to known issues or patch security vulnerabilities discovered in first/third-party libraries.
For more information on support dates check out https://www.splunk.com/en_us/legal/splunk-software-support-policy.html
10.2.1 was also released alongside other patched versions last week so this is probably the current most stable and feature-full release.
