Is there a recommended stable release of Splunk? We’re currently running Splunk On-Prem 9.2 and planning an upgrade to version 10.2.1.
Which release in the 10.x series is considered the most stable?
Hi @viku7474
Given that 10.3 is already available (see https://community.splunk.com/t5/Product-News-Announcements/Splunk-Cloud-Platform-10-3-Is-Now-General...) - albeit cloud only, due to onprem only being released every other minor release version - I would recommend the latest 10.2.x release as this is bug and security fixes for this build are actively updated, with the latest being 10.2.2 released less than a week ago.

@viku7474 For your upgrade from Splunk 9.2, we follow n-1 (v10.0.5) version to avoid any unforeseen issues. It's recommended to ensure you go to the latest maintenance version in any case to ensure the security vulnerabilities and bugs are fixed with the latest maintenance versions. Like in your case, if you are planning for 10.2.x, go with the latest maintenance release (ie, 10.2.2) or previous version's latest release version (i.e 10.0.5) and review the known issues section to assess potential impact to your deployment.

Additionally, please note that 9.2 > 10.2 requires careful planning as it's a major version upgrade and significant changes might need to be tested in your dev Splunk environment.
Refer this doc before doing the upgrade.
