Hi,
I read this article https://community.splunk.com/t5/Developing-for-Splunk-Enterprise/Splunk-DB-Connect-java-home-stanza-... and we're having the same issue. Hence I'm looking to upgrade our db connect to version 3.1.4 (3.1.3 is no longer available in Splunkbase)
I tried checking for documentations but mostly are for migration from version 2.0 to version 3.
Also, I do not see the "update" option on our Splunk console and I'm keen to update it from the Linux back end.
I read this article and it's pretty much telling me to just install the newer version, https://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/DBX/3.0.0/DeployDBX/Checklist. But how about the back ups and all? If I download and install 3.1.4, will it just overwrite my existing db_connect version 3.1.1 and migrate its configurations? Could you please assist on the step by step process?
Would really appreciate all your help
Lucille
Makes sense. 🙂 I'll let you know the outcome after our change schedule. Thank you!
See the instructions at https://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/DBX/3.0.0/DeployDBX/Checklist#Upgrade_an_existing_DB_Connect_d...
Splunk does not create backups as part of the app installation process. It's up to you to do that before upgrading the app.
As with pretty much all other Splunk apps, upgrading is a simple matter of installing the new version on top of the old. Your local settings are stored separately and are not touched by the installer.
