Automating Splunk upgrade for clustered deployment

azteksites
Explorer

Looking for recommendations for automating the Splunk version upgrade process for a clustered (indexer & search head cluster) deployment. I'm curious if I can consolidate the upgrade process into a centrally automated solution.

Details

  • Windows server based environment
  • indexer cluster
  • search cluster
  • multisite
  • deployment server
  • license/MC server

Thanks in advance!

Yes, you can automate Splunk upgrades.  Many customers do so using a variety of tools.

There's nothing special needed, just teach your automation to perform the same steps you would do manually.

Those steps are documented at https://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Forwarder/9.2.1/Forwarder/InstallaWindowsuniversalforwarderfro...
