StatsD line metric protocol with dimensions extension

I'm trying to find a statsd client that supports "StatsD line metric protocol with dimensions extension".

I don't even see this as a proposed format. Is this something splunk just came up with? All the client libraries I can find use a prefix.

Did you ever find a solution for this? I have a statsd installation running in front of Splunk and need support for dimensions. I've been searching and see that Grafana and Datadog support these extensions, but I need the original statsd daemon that will not log every metric with a dimension as a bad line.
