How to resolve a connection timeout issue with ChangeGear Integration?

Currently experiencing an issue with the Splunk (version 6.4.4) connection timing out with ChangeGear. We have integrated Splunk to monitor ChangeGear (version 6) ticketing. We run a ChangeGear database and ChangeGear application on separate servers.

The error we are receiving is:

Exception(' java.sql.SQLTransientConnectionException: ChangeGear-db2 - Connection is not available, request timed out after 30000ms..',).
