Use of Custom Event Parameters in Custom Email Template

We're looking to use property values sent with custom events in a custom email template that should be sent when such events occur.

Our application will generate a unique ID it passes as a property and value pair with the custom event we want an email notification sent for.

I know we can create and use properties in the email template itself. But can we use custom properties from the event in the email?
