.Net Core support (without full .net framework)

Is there any indication of an ETD or target version when .NET Core on Windows will be fully supported?

I see that it is supported only if utilizing full .NET Framework.

Hi David,

Unfortunately there is no timeline yet. The work on profiling APIs for .Net Core are still in progress by Microsoft which can be tracked as https://github.com/dotnet/coreclr/blob/master/Documentation/project-docs/profiling-api-status.md.

Looks like profiling api status page the https://github.com/dotnet/coreclr/blob/master/Documentation/project-docs/profiling-api-status.md did released code 13 days back, the doc' too was updated (https://github.com/dotnet/coreclr/commit/d33b8ea1e95412108c0a2d56143356f0a5a51709) saying + Windows and Linux.

Does this mean, can we expect an updated .NET Agent from App Dynamics with Linux support or is that already part of 4.4 ver released on 1st Nov.

Pls clarify/provide us some timeline so that we can plan accordingly.

We have a growing number of Linux servers running .NET Core applications which cannot integrate with AppDynamics. For that reason this is high priority to us. Is there a ETA to support .NET Core on Linux?

Thank you for reaching out!

Support for .NET Core is our top priority. We are happy to announce a beta release for .NET Core on Windows as of January 1, 2018. For any information on enrolling in the beta, please contact your sales team.

We are hard at work on a Linux solution. Architectural modifications to allow our agent to run natively on Linux put the agent behind Windows in release. We will keep you posted on the ETA and any betas when we have more information.

Hi,

With the last message on this thread being nearly three months ago, I was wondering if there is any update around the ETA for supporting the .NET Core runtime?

Hey Mark,

Thanks for reaching out! Absolutely, our .NET Core on Windows agent is now GA. Consistent with Microsoft's deployment model, the agent is a nuget package. We want to ensure the machine wide dependency is not a requirement with .NET Core on Windows. As for Linux, we are hard at work on getting this agent out.

Hi everyone!

With 4.5, you can now gain visibility into your .NET Core applications using the .NET Core for Linux SDK. With the SDK, you’ll have cross-application support and can monitor the migration of applications to microservice architectures. It works with LibAgent natively on Linux for a more integrated Linux experience and is supported on CentOS7 and Ubuntu 14.0.4 with a NuGet package deployment.

Here is the complete documentation:
