Monitoring APIs using ping methods

I am new to appdynamcis.

Is there any way I can monitor API's using ping menthod(for external and internal both)

We have URL Monitoring extension  - https://www.appdynamics.com/community/exchange/extension/url-monitoring-extension/

It is an extension for Java Machine agent for more details on java machine agent refer - https://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO43/Standalone+Machine+Agent
