Email template custom variables don´t appear on already created action

Dear All, 

We have set up an email template and we have created an email action using this template.

Once we have done this, we have added a custom variable on the email template, but this variable doesn´t appear on the action created that uses this email template, so we can´t establish any value on this variable.

Is it necessary to create a new action every time a custom variable is added to the email template? Have we done something wrong?

The controller version is 4.3.
