How can I use Google Apps OpenID authentication with Splunk single sign-on?

We would love to be able to use the splunk single sign-on functionality to authenticate our users using their Google Apps account. Is this possible?

We've been using splunk-auth-proxy, which we wrote internally, for the past few months and decided to open source it.
