I think it would be a greally good feature if you embed within Splunk an image ie floor layout/map of a location/sever in datacenter/firewall in network map.
If possible like in the Google Maps app, if there could be some kind of red dot shown on the diagram when an alert fires on the specified device.
This in Splunk means that response can be even quicker when analysts/admins physcialy know where to locate the locate kit, also maybe help less technical people ie management visualize things.
I'm not sure if this is possible, and if it is would need to be linked to AMDB in some way. However do think that lots of users would find this very useful.
Any thoughts?
Have you seen the Splunk for InterMapper app?
http://splunk-base.splunk.com/apps/51549/splunk-app-for-network-monitoring-and-mapping-beta
It provides the ability to map your network devices (switches, routers, servers etc) on a rack image, world map or even a blank background and then pull it into Splunk. By pulling it into Splunk you can then drilldown on individual devices to see layer 2 and 3 information including any related log data.
Hi.
I'm looking for the same kind of feature.
|Something like nagvis (www.nagvis.org).
