Splunk does not send alert email

Since the upgrade from v8.0.1 to v8.0.5, the splunk alert email did not work. We have the alert_actions.conf configured and nothing has changed in it.

In troubleshooting the problem i tested the sendemail command through the search and an error returned:

"command="sendemail", character mapping must return integer, None or unicode while sending mail to: email@domain.com"

Anyone having the same issue?
