Internet Explorer 9: Why panels only display "Loading Events" when drilling down in reports?

I have an issue with viewing events from SPLUNK in IE9 which I can only assume is a browser issue.

I am running both a SPLUNK 6.1.2 and 6.2 server and accessing dashboard reports etc. however when I drill down to event level in these reports I am unable to see the events onscreen. All I get is a panel saying. “Loading Events” and none ever appear, the timeline chart above this message updates detailing the number of events at a particular time and the export button also allows me to export all the events and view them in csv format.

When I access the same on a different machine I don’t have an issue when using IE11.

The version of IE in question is 9.0.8112.16421CO
Are there any security options etc that need to be set in IE to make this work?
Any help much appreciated.
